Lockdown Tips: Navigating Cafés, Bars and Restaurants under Covid Level 2

The hospitality sector is feeling "optimistic” as Covid-19 alert level two gets underway, but some operators around the country are questioning their viability under the new guidelines.

Cafés, Restaurants, and Bars across New Zealand are adapting their business models once again following the Government's announcement that, under level two, they will be subject to the 'three S' rule: seated, separated, and single server. Gatherings are limited to ten people but this didn't stop Leo Molloy, owner of Headquarters bar on the Auckland viaduct from hosting a party of 100 guests. Destiny Church leaders Brian and Hannah Tamaki, National party deputy leader Paula Bennett and Māori Party co-leader John Tamihere were among those invited to the bash.

Many in the hospitality industry have had to invest in new infrastructure to satisfy the government's new guidelines to provide contactless service; while using more hygiene and protection supplies to keep both themselves and their customers safe.
